Are you feeling like you just don’t enjoy the things you use to? Do you feel a sadness that you can’t shake? Are there things you worry about? Do you find yourself in some conflict with those around you? Depression can be a lonely place. Anxiety can prevent you from enjoying life. Relationships can be difficult. Whether you are experiencing a recent crisis, change in mood, life transition, relationship conflict or are dealing with an issue that has been going on for awhile, I am glad you are seeking help. Knowing that you need help is a strength and the first step in healing.
Therapy needs to be safe place where you can fully express yourself, feel heard, and explore options for feeling better. Your trust is important to me. I am here to journey with you as you work through the issues that you are struggling with. Together we will set goals and determine what your needs are and how I can best help you. I believe everyone has an inner strength they can tap into to bring about positive change. I work from a client-centered approach utilizing cognitive-behavioral strategies, education, relaxation and mindfulness to help you achieve your goals.
For some, therapy is enough. Others may benefit from medication to reduce their symptoms to where they can do the work they need to in therapy. If in working together, we feel that an evaluation for medications would be beneficial I will help facilitate that referral.
I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Illinois State University in 1990. Before venturing into private practice I worked as a therapist/crisis worker in Community Mental Health Centers. Through my internships and work experience, I gained extensive training and expertise in treating depressive and anxiety disorders. I also gained experience working with crisis assessment/resolution, loss, relationship and stress management issues.
The important thing to me is that you get the help you need. Please give me a call at 414-291-9487 ext. 82 so we can set up an appointment to meet and see how we can work together.
